Developments (Set before Transmission solved)

Ren sighed softly as he stared out of the window of the small apartment that he was staying in with Leo, Lavy, Aria and Fon. It was more then a sort of slum for those who didn't have proper homes but Ren wasn't really complaining. His fingers slowly stroked over the bent and battered black box in his lap, Aria had gotten it for him and he was more than grateful for her assistance, the black box was a part of who he was much like his hidden solar panels.

Life with the light brothers and the two girls was interesting Leo always put on airs that he didn't care about the group, but he could tell it was the opposite, unlike Lavy who was very open and expressive Leo was more aloof but he still cared, he jsut wasn't very good at showing it. He got on with Aria fine, and while he was still weary bout Fon she seemed to have stuck to her promise and not 'analysed' any of her friends since she's been here and Ren has started to realize he judged her far to quickly on that account.

Now the brothers would go out, probably to put on the light show that Lavy had told him about and Aria went out often with Fon tog et things, so he was left alone in the house; not that he minded, he already knew he was a burden to them because of his...disability so he did his best not to complain, however it left him with a lack of anything to do and it annoyed him.

He had noticed some people had powers of sorts in this world special abilities that were unique to them and it made him wonder what his was, he hoped it wasn't anything physical or he'd be seriously screwed, so he tried to do things with his mind instead, to keep his mind active instead.

It was then he discovered telekinesis by accident, he wanted a book from a high shelf but he couldn't reach it and due to his frustration the book actually moved by itself an inch. Realizing he did that, he kept trying to move it until it eventually fell off the shelf into his lap. "...neat..."

Aria had been out and about with Fon until Fon went off somewhere or another. She was trying to help Fon by teaching her right and wrong when it comes to using her abilities, but she was still knew to it so she didn't quite grasp the idea of who and who not to take data from and when it was ok. Aria wasn't to concerned with her small disappearance at the time, she knew Fon would find her way back home when she was ready. Fon was kind of like the house hold pet in that way.

Aria had been out getting food and other little supplies for the apartment that was now being shared with the two brothers and Ren and Fon. It was a nice set up they all had going on here. She was happy that Ren got his box back, she could tell that it made him very happy. She couldn't even imagine what her life would be like without her box..probably because she would most likely be dead or in a potato kind of state.

Fon had been away from her for quite some time now. It was almost starting to worry Aria. She finished getting all of her things and then started to look around a bit before heading home. She couldn't see her anywhere. She sighed, " This girl needs a leash sometimes I swear." Aria kind of gave up and headed back home knowing Fon should be there shortly after hopefully.

The door was unlocked when she arrived so she just opened it. She saw Ren sitting at the window like he normally does. He seemed to have been concentrating a bit on something and didn't notice her arrival. Then she heard a book on a shelf near her move on its own. "Ren, was that you doing that?" She kind of had a bit of surprise in her voice. She hasn't seen any sort of ability like that, well at least not by him. This could only mean good things, it means he is getting better. She smiled and walked over to him and kissed his forehead. A friendly thing to do when she walked in as to say hello.

"How long have you been able to move things....or is this something new?" She sounded pretty excited. She didn't want to bombard him with questions so she just sat with him patiently.

Ren was surprised that this could even work; granted so far he;s seen the light brothers abilities and such and some of Arias functions as a computer, but nothing like this; granted making a book with your mind was hardly a great leap to most, but to him, who was crippled and unable to do much but suit here in a wheelchair all day, this...this was something he could develop, something he could train and mold to his own purpose; he was glad to have friends buit he wanted to be independant too, he spent too long either in bed or in the wheel chair.

He didn't notice Aria at all until she spoke, a little startled he shifted his head around as far as he could without hurting himself, his red eyed drifted from her to the book before he nodded shyly before he looked away almsot shyly "Something new...can't move my body so...thought I'd try with my mind, didn't think...it would actually work" He admitted with a faint smile.

Aria was so pleased to hear that Ren just came up with this. She got all excited, "Well this is a picture moment!" She took her head piece off of her hair, knelt down beside Ren, and held it in front of the two and captured the happy moment. She was grinning ear to ear where as Ren didn't show too much emotion due to the quickness and unexpectedness of the shot. Aria thought about what he had said and looked right in his eyes, "Ren, you do know that we watch over you because we want to and not because we have to... It would have been easy to just patch you up and then leave you, but we chose not to... You are not an inconvenience to us." Aria turned away and looked out the window for a moment before getting up off her knees.

Trying to quickly change the subject before things got all emotional, Aria asked, "Where is everyone? I left before Lavy and Leo and they still aren't back yet?" Aria's eyes widened as she almost forgot about Fon. "Oh no....and Fon still isn't back yet either.... I kind of lost her earlier while we were shopping..." Aria lowered her head in embarrassment. Fon was pretty much her responsibility since they met up. The two were practically inseparable since the day they met. She got a bit frantic and started pacing the room, "Should we go find them? No, they should be back soon. But what if they aren't? Would it be our fault since we didn't go look for them? What if Fon got herself in trouble? What if she has taken too many peoples' data?" Her questions went on not giving much space in between to allow Ren to respond. She took a deep breath and let it out, "You must think I am a bit obsessive.." Aria kind of giggled but she had a feeling deep down that there was something going on and she couldn't let it pass.

Walking with Aria was interesting for a first time communication to her, without trying to taking data or messing with her database, as they was in the market she stopped beside Aria as she picked whatever they needed and began to walk away. Something interested her. She tilted her head a bit then walked over there Fon didn't know what interest her that was so far but it enough to make want to see what's over there. Maybe she can analyze it for a while and see what she makes of it. Passing a couple of people that was in her way she finally made it over to the thing.

It was shiny when the light touches it and it was shaped like an oval like being. So quickly she began to look through her data and found out it was probably an egg-like, the pattern was weird to her so she picked it up, though she had a hard time at first since it was in the ground and only the top piece was showing. She looked around and walking away once more but came back and had a spoon in her hand. Since it was the closes she could find at the moment. She began to dig. Soon finally she was able to take the mechanical egg out of the ground after a couple of minutes. Fon began to analyze it for a while and touched designs that was showing, but not much of it she need to clean it later when she get back. Fon seen that it was a puzzle and began to mess with it even more until it opened smoothly after a couple of sounds, such as ticks. Once it opens she looked closely when she heard a small buzzing sound coming from it.

"Aria...." She said once she came back to the house when she found out that Aria wasn't at the market anymore. Fon looked over and seen that Ren and her was talking so she waited. She then appeared beside her holding the dirt covered egg in her arms. Her clothes and skin was dirty as well.

The photo did surprise him, and he was caught off guard so he looked pretty blank in the photo when she took the picture, not that he minded it of course, if anything he enjoyed Aria and Lavy's enthusiasm, it made up for Leo's stubbornness and Fons quiet personality as well as his own conflicted feelings about what his purpose was here, and the pain he was constantly in as his body slowly healed.

When Aria pointed out they didn't mind being here with him he shook his head a tiny bit at that "I know, I just...don't like being stuck here...I want to be out...like everyone else" He said softly; in truth he;d always wanted to cone to earth to see what it was like, but now he was here he was restricted by his own body and it was incredibly frustrating.

Ren shook his head "I haven't seen them since they left" He admitted; neither of them told him where they were going but he was sure they would be fine, especially because his solar panels were constantly covered up to protect Lavy "I'm sure Fon will be fine...she'll return when she's ready" He said softly before he smiled a little at Aria's worrysome ways before he shook his head "Not obsessive...you just care a lot" He corrected her gently.

Aria knew what it was like to just be stuck somewhere, she was a computer after all. Before she awakened as this humanoid she was just plugged into a wall. It wasn't always fun from what she can recollect. Aria then smiled at Ren's words when talking about the others. He had a way of calming her nerves. Sometimes if he wasn't around she feels as if she would over heat and malfunction all over the place.

Aria's head snapped around at the door when she heard it open. She gasped as she saw Fon there all dirty from wherever she went off too. "Fon why are you all dirty?" She continued to examine her friend and she saw that she was holding something in her hand. It looked like an egg of sorts. It wasn't something Aria had ever seen before so of course she grew curious. "What is it that you found?" She walked over to Fon and held her hand out, "Let's get you cleaned up and changed and you can tell me what this is and where you found it." She grabbed the mechanical object away from Fon for safe keeping for the moment and to slightly examine it herself. "Sorry to leave you so suddenly, Ren, but as you can see...duty calls. If you need anything we will be in the other room...you should keep practicing your knew tricks." Aria was referring to his newly found telekinesis.

She pulled Fon gently into the bathroom and placed the object on the counter. She turned on some water and got a cloth to dampen. The dirt on Fon was everywhere. It looked as if she was digging somewhere. Aria started cleaning her hands and everything else that got dirty. "So...tell me...where did you run off to."

Ren looked over at Fon who seemed to have been digging with her bare hands from the looks of it, but what really drew his attention was the egg which Aria placed carefully in the table; he'd never seen anything like that before in his life; then again it was no surprise; his black box when it had been found was heavy corrupted and barely responded to his touch, and his memory had not improved since being hospitalized, but neither had he lost any more memories, so that was a good thing at least; his short term memory wasn't failing him at least. he refused to part with it though, it was still a part of him, even if it was broken.

Ren just nodded a little at that and smiled a little as he watched Aria and Fon disappear around a corner so she could get cleaned up, once they were gone he focused his attention to the egg and began poking at it probing it with his mind before he made it slowly rise off the table and start to towards him it was hard to keep concentration to keep the egg floating and its movement was slow, but eventually, it was set in his lap.

Moving his fingers over the edge of it gently he looked at the swirling patterned and like Fon realized it was some sort of puzzle, though he'd never heard of an egg shaped puzzle box before.

He knew he should have left it alone but he was curious about it, and besides, he liked puzzles, he liked solving them hence why he went ahead and tried to solve the puzzle anyway.

Fon let Aria take the egg from her for she can look at it as well. She was going to tell her what she had found but Aria began to ask her question though she can tell her later when they get the bath. Fon held her hand that was giving to her then looked over to Ren as they left. Ability? What kind did he achieve? She wanted to know so she looked over to the Aria. ".....Ren...tricks?"

She began to speak once more when she damped the cloth and asked where have she run to. "Outside..." She began and pointed out the window and continued. "of Marketplace.....near......hm?" She stopped when she felt a wetness on her hands then cheeks. Her eyes turned blank. "...Water..." Fon was partly surprised that she didn't malfunction then she thought she would. Her first facial expression was shown. Forgetting about Aria's question she grabbed Aria's hand and touched the wet cloth that was still in her hands. "....No Malfunction....?" She slightly question. Her face turned back to it's emotionless stare and her eyes turned back to normal.

Quickly she went back to the question that she didn't fully answer to her yet. "In a....dirt rocky field...." She answered pointing back at the window to the direction of the field then continued. "Puzzle....the egg is a puzzle..." She said. "A creature lives in it..." She spoke looking back at her.

Aria was looking at Fon the whole time. It was sometimes hard to understand her since she didn't use many words at all. "Yes, Ren has learned an ability but let's not talk about it till he masters it a bit more." She waited patiently for Fon to answer her questions at her own pace. Just as soon as Fon was getting to her point she got sidetracked with the water, "Yes Fon, we do not malfunction with water now....well at least not with this small amount of it...too much can cause malfunction though." Aria scrunched her face a bit and giggled, "You just made a face, that was new, good job Fon." She was actually really happy for Fon that she made an expression. Expressions were now a very important part of their lives, it shows their feelings and intent.

Fon finally went back to answering her question and she was listening closely to her answer, "So let me get this straight, you were near the marketplace in a rocky dirt field, and you found an egg puzzle with a creature inside.....do you know what kind of creature it is? How do you know one is even in there?" Aria would have continued with her questions but she didn't want to overwhelm Fon, that and she was finished cleaning her up. "Let's go back to see Ren."

She took Fon back to the main room and saw that Ren had the egg with him in his lap and was fiddling with it. "Apparently there is a creature of some sort in there...Any luck opening it?"

Ren was having no luck getting it open, even probing it with his mind wasn't doing him any good; whatever Fon had done to open it before it wasn't responding to him. Ren faintly remembered something about how some animals could get imprinted on people, that the first person they saw they would believe to be their mother and such.

At Aria;s question, he glanced up at her and back at the egg "...strange...the egg is mechanical,...but I think something living is inside..." He murmured gently his fingers tracing over the swirls on the pattern "It's warm" He said softly as he tried to get it open, before he shook his head "I don't know how Fon did it...maybe it will only open for her, because she found it first" He admitted with a faint smile.
